Mattia Caldara is set to leave AC Milan once again this summer, as his career with the Rossoneri seems destined to remain unfulfilled.
La Gazzetta dello Sport recall how Caldara arrived in the summer of 2018 for €35m, as part of the operation that saw Leonardo Bonucci go back to Juve, but he has never played a single minute in Serie A with Milan due to a series of injuries.
Caldara’s adventure at Milan can be summarised in three numbers: 2, 65 and 35. These signify the games played, the minutes played and the amount in millions to sign him, respectively.
Back in 2018, Caldara was deemed to be one of the best defensive talents in Italy, but he never kicked on with the Rossoneri. The last match that he played was on 24 April 2019, the 1-0 Coppa Italia semi-final second leg defeat against Lazio.
After 1177 days he will leave for Spezia on loan with a €3m option to buy, but Milan will pay 50% of his salary. As part of the operation, Milan have already talked to the Ligurian club about Jakub Kiwior and Kelvin Amian, two young defenders that they have secured a preferential lane for in view of the future.
