Tammy Abraham appears likely to be given a chance from minute one against Slovan Bratislava, with Alvaro Morata unavailable.
As this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) reports, Morata will not be able to play tomorrow evening in the Slovakian capital as he is suspended due to reaching the yellow card threshold in European competitions.
Abraham should therefore be the one leading the attack over Francesco Camarda, who will once again be part of the first team squad for the trip but is currently expected to start the game on the bench, as he did versus Club Brugge.
The Englishman has not played a match as a starter since October 6 against Fiorentina when he was in the headlines for the wrong reasons after taking a penalty that he shouldn’t have and failing to convert it.
Since that day, Abraham’s playing time has dropped significantly both due to Fonseca’s choices and the shoulder problem he got against Udinese. On Saturday against Juventus, for example, he was on the bench for 90 minutes while Camarda was preferred against Cagliari.
Now it’s his turn again and tomorrow is an opportunity he absolutely cannot afford to waste, especially given the wider context that he remains at Milan on a dry loan from Roma and must do some convincing if he wants to stay.
