GdS: How ‘enormous problems’ led to Milan’s top four hopes ending in March

AC Milan face Inter in the Coppa Italia semi-final this week, and there is a lot of pressure now being put on that game, despite the woes of this squad.
Put simply, Milan now face a make-or-break game against Inter, but that is no one’s fault other than their own. It is a depressing reality that has been come to terms with this season, and the Rossoneri are at their final chance.
As Gazzetta dello Sport write, binoculars are now needed to see the Champions League places, with a nine-point gap now in place between the fourth and ninth. Mathematically, there is still a chance, but reality serves a much bleaker picture.
So, with the Champions League all but gone, the focus has to be on achieving another European competition – the Europa League. However, this is only accessible, at this point, via the Coppa Italia, where the Rossoneri will meet Inter.
There are ‘enormous problems’ deeply-rooted within this squad, as Gazzetta states, and there is not one cause for the woes that are currently being faced. Consistency is a faraway dream, in terms of results and tactics, and this only further deepens frustrations.
So, now the focus turns to the Nerazzurri, if it was not already, with some believing that the focus was already on the cup rather than the league. If Milan are not careful, the San Siro could become a cauldron of toxicity this week, and the Diavolo cannot afford that in the slightest.
