FC Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, valid until mid-2027. The German shot stopper is one of the highest rated keepers in the Eredivisie. Last season the 33-year-old kept the most clean sheets in the league (18) as Twente finished in fifth position and obtained a spot in the Europa Conference League.
Unnerstall put pen-to-paper on a new contract at De Grolsch Veste on Monday. Speaking about the new deal, the former PSV Eindhoven player said ‘I am 100 per cent enjoying myself at FC Twente. I am very proud of what we have achieved with the team in the past two seasons and that I can play for this beautiful club for a few more years. I believe that we can improve even further and I would like to help with that.’
Lars Unnerstall kicked off his professional career in the Bundesliga with FC Schalke 04. He featured 47 times for the club before experiencing a spell with Swiss side FC Aarau and 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf. In 2017 he moved to the Netherlands where he impressed with VVV-Venlo before playing as a back-up goalkeeper for PSV. Lars Unnerstall has spent the last two seasons with FC Twente, and now he’s committed his future to the club.
