Germany have been hit with a second injury blow ahead of their Olympic semi-final clash with the USA.
Horst Hrubesch’s side were already dealt the blow of losing captain Alexandra Popp for Tuesday’s showdown in Lyon due to infection.
But they are now set to be without Lea Schüller, who has an inflamed patellar tendon in her left knee following the last eight win over Canada.
The Bayern Munich forward scored three times in the group stage as Germnay finished behind their semi-final opponents in Group B.
Hoffenheim defender Sarai Linder has been confirmed as Schüller’s replacement in their country’s 18-player squad, having recently overcome injury herself.
