Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany can secure top spot in Group A3 when they host Bosnia and Herzegovina in Saturday’s UEFA Nations League clash at Freiburg’s Europa-Park Stadion.

The Nationalelf have already secured their place in the quarter-finals but they will look to pick up maximum points from their next two games, which includes a trip to Hungary.

Germany ran out 2-1 winners in the reverse fixture with a six-minute brace from Deniz Undav, but they will have to do without the Stuttgart forward for this international break after the 28-year-old withdrew from the squad. Fitness was already an issue following his substitution against Atalanta last week and then his absence against Eintracht Frankfurt, but there was hope that he could play a small role during the international break.

Leroy Sané was called up in his place, but Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Tim Kleindienst is likely to get the nod in attack. The 29-year-old has 10 goal contributions (six goals, four assists) in 10 Bundesliga games for Die Fohlen this season and has started Germany’s last two games.

Elsewhere, Florian Wirtz returned to training following a recent infection and should be available for selection. Expect the Bayer Leverkusen star to play alongside Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala.

Joshua Kimmich is also set for three milestones should he feature against Bosnia. Should he start as captain, he will match Bastian Schweinsteiger’s record, while his next game will be his 96th appearance in a Germany shirt, surpassing Sepp Maier and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Finally, his next appearance in the UEFA Nations League will be his 17th, becoming Germany’s record appearance maker in the tournament, surpassing Tottenham’s Timo Werner.

Predicted Germany XI vs Bosnia and Herzegovina

Alexander Nübel – Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rüdiger, Jonathan Tah, Maximilian Mittelstädt – Robert Andrich, Pascal Groß – Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz – Tim Kleindienst.
