Roma are wearing special shirts during the warm-up with messages for Edoardo Bove, who collapsed during last night’s Fiorentina-Inter match.

The player, who is owned by the Giallorossi and on loan to Fiorentina, is in hospital and feeling so much better that he asked for a television to be brought into his room so that he could watch his beloved Roma play Atalanta this evening.

“Yesterday was a terrible moment for everyone,” Roma director Ghisolfi told Sky Sport Italia.

“This is not the time to talk about the medical details, but we can say that Edo is doing well. Edo is fantastic, he is such a gentle person.

“He deserves great health, we send our best wishes and strength to him and his family. We also thank everyone at Fiorentina, we are with you, Edo.”

Ghisolfi on Roma reboot

The Giallorossi make their home debut under new coach Ranieri, as since taking over from Ivan Juric as their third boss of the campaign and fourth of 2024, he oversaw a 1-0 defeat away to Napoli and 2-2 comeback thriller with Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League on Thursday.

“We know how strong Atalanta are and the intensity they put into their matches,” continued Ghisolfi.

“In London, we saw a team fight with great intensity too, so this is an important opportunity for us to play a great game.

“We can gain confidence and points, in this way winning back our fans too.”

Nicolò Pisilli is suspended with Mario Hermoso and Eldor Shomurodov injured.

Rather than Stephan El Shaarawy, they go for Leandro Paredes and Bryan Cristante in a more defensive-minded 3-5-2 set-up.

Ghisolfi gave an interview to the Corriere dello Sport last week where he complained about the number of refereeing errors that have gone against Roma this season.

“We are struggling and are not seeking alibis, but that does not mean we have to accept everyone walking all over us,” he added.

“The message is clear, we demand respect and equality. It is a fact that there are seven errors against us, that is too many and we ask for equality.”
