Former Napoli and Chelsea attacker Gianfranco Zola spoke about Napoli-Roma and Ranieri’s return to the capital.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zola said, “Ranieri? He is the best choice for Roma.”
“He knows the place well and can bring a lot of experience and serenity: in this historical moment these are fundamental factors.”
“Without disrespect, the decision to send De Rossi away surprised everyone a bit, but I won’t go into the merits. Then Juric arrived, a good coach who needs a certain amount of time and certain players. They were particular choices, I won’t go beyond that.”
“I think the match will be hard fought, though Napoli are favorites.”
“Ranieri was the coach of my beginnings and of my end: in Naples we finished fourth in the first year without Diego, playing good offensive football.”
“Antonio Conte, on the other hand, was a teammate to be respected in the national team and a very tough opponent. There is affection for both of them. And I am proud of it.”
