Santiago Gimenez has told the press in Mexico about his first experiences as a Milan player while away on international duty, explaining that he is ‘living the dream’ despite a poor run of results at the beginning of his Rossoneri career.

Gimenez joined Milan from Feyenoord in a deal in excess of €35m including bonuses and add-ons during the January transfer window.

The Mexico international scored twice in his first two Serie A appearances, plus another against Feyenoord in the Champions League, but has now gone exactly a month without finding the net for the Rossoneri.

Despite a run without a goal, Gimenez has told the Mexican press that he is delighted with life in San Siro so far, and that he is ‘enjoying every second’ of his time in Serie A.

Gimenez on start to Milan life: ‘You feel it twice as much on the inside’

“I understood the greatness of the club when I arrived, but I’d already felt it from the outside. You feel it twice as much on the inside, it’s gigantic,” Gimenez told Azteca TV Deportes (via TMW), while away on international duty with the Mexico national team.

He continued: “We’re not going through a great moment, but they welcomed me in the best possible way, I am living the dream. I want to be an example and make people understand that everything is possible. I live in the present and am enjoying every second.”

Gimenez admitted that not everything has been smooth sailing in his first few weeks in Milan: “Like all changes, the first month was a bit complicated. There are new things to get used to, new journeys, everything is new, even the language of course.

“Little by little, though, I am settling in. My wife has helped me a lot and has let me focus mainly on football.”
