Girona have been very active in the transfer market over the last few weeks, and preparations continues for their first season as a Champions League club. Deals for Ladislav Krejci and Abel Ruiz have already been wrapped up, and they are now close to finalising their third addition to Michel Sanchez’s squad.

As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the Catalans have verbally agreed terms with Gabriel Misehouy, who is currently a free agent. The 18-year-old midfielder left Ajax upon the expiry of his contract on the 30th of June, and a week on from that, he’s now set to join Girona.

Girona fought off competition from a number of clubs, including Ligue 1 side Lille, to secure an agreement with Misehouy, who’s expected to formally sign his new contract next week. He’s expected to then start pre-season with Michel’s squad.

Misehouy’s arrival could be bad news for Pablo Torre, who had been linked with a return to Girona this summer. The two players operate in similar position, so it could mean that Torre moves somewhere else, given that he will almost certainly be leaving Barcelona for the second successive summer.
