Girona’s hopes of carrying their over-achieving La Liga form into next season took a big hit this month when their star striker Artem Dovbyk departed for Italy.
Girona reportedly have decided on a replacement for the Ukrainian, hoping that they can replace the 27-year-old’s firepower without a step down in quality.
As per Marca, the replacement that has been chosen is Bojan Miovski (25), who plies his trade at Aberdeen in Scotland, making 53 appearances last season and netting 26 goals.
As per TransferMarkt, the North Macedonian striker has a market value of €4 million, making him a budget option for the club and a fairly low-risk one too.
At only 25 years old, the striker is still yet to enter his prime, and could potentially continue to grow under Míchel at Girona as he looks to take a step up in his career.
Having played previously only in Hungary and his native North Macedonia before moving to Scotland, Miovski doesn’t have a great amount of experience in European football, but this doesn’t seem to put off Girona.
Both sides are currently locked in negotiations, with the outcome expected to be revealed sooner rather than later.
