Los Angeles FC have officially announced the imminent arrival of Olivier Giroud, who’ll complete his transfer to the MLS side after leaving Milan this summer.
The 37-year-old French striker confirmed his intentions to leave the Rossoneri in a statement on Monday, bringing an end to a memorable three-year spell in the Lombardy capital. He quickly became a fan favourite for his professionalism, hard work and vital goals.
During his three seasons with Milan, Giroud helped the side win the Scudetto in his debut season and scored 48 goals and provided 20 assists in 130 appearances across all competitions. He’ll likely receive a warm send-off in the club’s final home game of the season against Salernitana on May 26.
As officially confirmed today, Giroud will sign for LAFC on a free transfer once his Milan contract expires in June, putting pen to paper on a one-year contract with an option for a second, joining as a Designated Player.
The MLS side currently sit fifth in the Western Conference table after 12 games, picking up 18 points from five wins and three draws.
