Jean-Clair Todibo says he’s not going anywhere following another solid point on Saturday.
After a rather lacklustre first-half of football, West Ham found themselves level at 0-0 with Brighton. However, things needed to change, and Julen Lopetegui decided to do this by bringing on Jean-Clair Todibo.
The visitors took the lead via Wieffer in the 51st minute, but the Hammers equalised just seven minutes later thanks to Mohammed Kudus being in the right place to get on the end of a saved shot from Jarrod Bowen.
After this, the hosts switched to a back 5 – a decision which saw them on the back foot for a large period of the second-half. Although they coped relatively well with the pressure, Brighton were unlucky not to walk away with all three points.
Todibo may not have made any major mistakes, and it may not be his fault, but there’s no denying Brighton were allowed too many opportunities.
The Frenchman has found his game time limited since a rumoured heated exchange at half-time of the Arsenal game. This has sparked allegations that he could leave the club despite being a West Ham player permanently if they avoid relegation.
Fortunately, he’s categorically denied these rumours on Instagram. A West Ham fan begged him to stay on his post-match post to which the defender replied: “I’m not gonna leave big man West Ham are massive! Don’t believe the media.”
This is pretty categoric. It may not have been the start he or us fans would’ve hoped for, but he’s clearly a brilliant player and is slowly adapting to the Premier League. He needs a long run of games to find his pacing. Given that time, I’m certain he will be an excellent defender for us.
