Miguel Gonzalez answered for Guatemala in the 5’ 1P before Terrence Amade would restore the two-goal lead for the home side in the 4’ 1P.

Gonzalez completed his hat-trick with goals in the 4’ 1P and 2’ 1P to equalize before the end of the opening period.

After a scoreless second period, Gonzalez would find the back of the net again in the 12’ 3P to secure Guatemala’s first-ever victory at a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

The victory keeps Guatemala in the race to advance to the knockout round, separated from second-place Japan on goal difference and three points behind first-place Belarus.

Guatemala will return to the sand at The Paradise Arena to open Monday’s activities against Belarus. Both nations will seek a victory to control their destiny in their quarterfinal hopes.

Fellow Concacaf nation El Salvador will continue its campaign in Group D against Oman on Sunday.
