Real Madrid are four points behind Barcelona on the league standings five games into the season and it is clear that the path to a title defence will not be easy.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have made a sensational start to the new season and are firing on all cylinders. The front four look on song and are toying with the opposition while the midfield and defence provide a solid foundation.

Guti showers praise on Barcelona star

Speaking to the media in a recent interview on AS, Real Madrid legend Guti was asked which Barcelona player he would sign for Los Blancos. With no hesitation or second thought, he named the team’s young superstar winger.

“Lamine Yamal.”

The legend was then posed with a follow-up question as to whether the 17-year-old Barcelona talent was among the top three best players in the world as it stands.

“Well, with what he does on the pitch, definitely yes,” he said, showering huge praise on the teenager.

After starring for Spain in the Euro 2024 and walking away with the Young Player of the Tournament award, Yamal has started off the new season as a force to be reckoned with as has been one of Barcelona’s best players.

The youngster has racked up three goals and four assists in just five starts this season and is unstoppable down the right flank. Needless to say, he has been one of the pillars of Barcelona’s strong start to the season.

Yamal’s current contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026 but it is clear that the Catalan will not let go of the youngster easily. They are preparing a renewal offer and hope to tie down the player once he turns 18.

Apart from the obvious rivalry with Barcelona, Real Madrid can forget about signing the teenage phenom in the coming years as he has repeatedly made it clear that he intends to stay in Catalonia.

Needless to say, his rise to fame only sets up a stellar El Clasico with special emphasis on Yamal and Vinicius as two of the best wingers in the sport.
