It is hardly a troubling matter for FC Barcelona when they see their youngsters step up. Fortunately for the Catalan club, many of their most talented youth products have done just that in recent seasons. Despite Barcelona having to go through a taxing financial dilemma, their youth players have more than helped out.

Even now, as FC Barcelona prepares to kick off the preseason and finally get things going again, the Catalan club will once again need the aid of their youth. Unfortunately, at the moment, many first-team players will be unavailable due to the international break and their absence will need to be catered to.

To do that, new Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is expected to call upon the services of the most promising youth talents within the quarry. A key call-up from among these talents, according to SPORT, will be none other than 22-year-old Barcelona Atletic starlet Gerard Martin.

One of the most fundamentally important pieces of Rafa Marquez’s team, Martin is expected to be a key figure for Hansi Flick during the preseason as well. A strong and fast left-back, the youngster has improved a lot under Marquez this season, especially when it comes to the technical aspects of his game.

As highlighted in the report, Flick has already informed the player of his interest in having him audition during the preseason. This will give the young Barcelona fullback a good opportunity to prove his worth and potentially earn himself an extension as well.

At the moment, Martin is only contracted to FC Barcelona until 2025. Even in case of a departure, Barça will first want to extend his stay to ensure that a higher fee can be acquired for his sale. At the moment, however, the promising Barcelona Atletic fullback also has a chance to win himself a respectable place in Flick’s eyes.
