Hansi Flick’s current Barcelona crop is on track to achieve something remarkable in terms of their attacking performance, reports Gabriel Sans in Mundo Deportivo.
So far, they have scored 113 goals across 36 official matches, just one short of the 114 goals scored by Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in the same number of games during the historic 2011/12 season.
During that memorable season, Guardiola’s team went on to break records, ending with 190 goals in 64 official matches.
Breaking Guardiola’s record
The key moment that could see Flick’s side surpass the 114-goal mark comes with their 37th match. Guardiola’s team had a goalless draw against Villarreal, which limited their tally to 114 goals.
Now, if Flick and his men score at least two goals in their upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano on Monday, they will reach 115 goals, one more than the previous record.

The 2011-2012 season that Guardiola’s Barcelona achieved this feat was also the season when Messi, David Villa, and Cesc Fabregas were in their prime form.
Catching the season’s record
In that unforgettable season, Barcelona not only dominated La Liga but also competed in six different competitions. After winning the Champions League, they qualified for both the European Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
The team’s attacking force in La Liga was extraordinary, scoring 114 goals in La Liga, which averaged out to three goals per match.
Although Flick’s current team is a bit behind in terms of goal-scoring pace, they are still in impressive form. They have netted 64 goals in 23 games, which is an average of 2.78 goals per match.
While the task of reaching 190 goals may seem difficult, it is far from impossible. With the attacking quality in their squad, Flick’s Barcelona can still aim to surpass the goalscoring feats of the past and etch their own name in history.
