When Hansi Flick took the helm at FC Barcelona this summer, he was unequivocal about his stance on excuses – there would be none, even if the team’s form took a downturn.

However, after a series of games where Barcelona felt they were on the wrong end of refereeing decisions, Flick’s patience seems to be wearing thin.

Flick starts asking questions about referees

As reported by Catalunya Radio, Flick has begun to question the refereeing in La Liga, which comes at a time when the team has struggled with a dip in form.

This season, there have been numerous incidents where Barcelona felt they were treated unfairly, a sentiment not new to the club, as refereeing controversies have been a recurring theme for years.

During a team meeting, Flick expressed his bewilderment, asking, “Will there not be any journalists writing about this package?” and “What do the masses think of that?”

His surprise stems from the lack of media and club reaction to what he perceives as a pattern of poor officiating.

In the press conference ahead of the match against Leganes, Flick was poised to address these issues but was advised against it.

The advice was clear: the best way to silence the critics and overshadow the refereeing controversies is by winning games.

If Barcelona can finish ahead of Real Madrid, the narrative will shift entirely from the refereeing to their success on the pitch.

Flick’s comments reflect a broader frustration within the club, highlighting how refereeing has indeed been a contentious issue in La Liga, often leaving teams like Barcelona at a perceived disadvantage.
