Hansi Flick responds to Barcelona star’s treble hunt claim | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has responded to Raphinha’s suggestion that he and his teammates have set their sights on a historic treble this season.

Barcelona, of course, are fresh off keeping alive what has been an altogether productive campaign to date.

After welcoming Benfica to Catalunya’s capital for the 2nd leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie between the clubs, the Blaugrana marched on to a 3-1 victory, to book their spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.

As much means that Barca remain in the running for a potential La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle on Tuesday, Raphinha was asked if he feels his side should be considered the favourites to go all the way in the Champions League.

And the Brazilian went on to respond:

“Yes, we’re candidates to win it all.”

During his own post-match exchange with the press, Hansi Flick, in turn, was drawn on his star winger’s words, to which the German responded:

“He said we were the candidates to win, not me!

“I think it’s good that the players think this way, it shows that they have confidence and believe in what we are doing. But my job is to stay calm and focus on the next game.”
