Harry Kane gives Mathys Tel verdict after role in Tottenham move | OneFootball

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has delivered a glowing review of Tottenham Hotspur's new loanee Mathys Tel, who left Bavaria for north London after some warm words from the England captain.

Tel originally turned down a permanent move to Spurs in January, before agreeing to a six-month loan which, surprisingly, agrees an option to buy worth just shy of £50m.

The Frenchman still has control of his future – he will have to sanction a departure if Tottenham trigger his release clause – and will be afforded far more first-team opportunities by Ange Postecoglou.

"It's a great move for both parties," Kane told his fans on the Cleats app. "Mathys is a great guy and really hardworking.

"Obviously, for his potential it's important for him to get some minutes under his belt and some regular game time and hopefully develop, keep improving and hopefully fulfil all the potential that he has.

"It's great for Tottenham to have a young hungry player with loads of talent to hopefully score some goals and help push Tottenham as far as possible. I'm wishing him all the best. I hope he has a fantastic time there. I know he will and I'm sure all the fans will make him feel really welcome as well."

Tel was granted just two Bundesliga starts in the first half of this season, but after a lengthy conversation with Ange Postecoglou, he was persuaded to snub the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Postecoglou was not the only figure to put forward a strong case for Tottenham. Tel revealed that Kane gave him a glowing review of Spurs before he arrived in London. "He told me: 'This is a big club with very good people. The pitch is very nice, the training centre is very good and if you go there you can enjoy it.' Everything was positive from Harry Kane."
