Harry Kane’s wait for a first major trophy of his career continues after England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the final of Euro 2024.

Kane’s move to Bayern Munich last summer did not play out as he had hoped, with the German giants finishing third in the Bundesliga and failing to win any silverware in his debut campaign with the club.

That is despite scoring 44 goals in all competitions for Bayern over the last campaign. He is also both Tottenham and England’s record goalscorer, ranks second in the list of Premier League all-time record goalscorers, and has netted more than 400 times across his career.

But that outstanding return is yet to contribute to any silverware, a record that continued with England’s defeat to Spain.

Kane made three finals with Tottenham. He lost to Chelsea in the 2015 Carabao Cup final, then against Manchester City in the same competition in 2021, as well as losing to Liverpool in the 2019 Champions League final. He was also a runner-up with Tottenham in the Premier League in 2017, and with England at the 2021 European Championship final.

In the 15 semi-finals or finals Kane was involved in for Tottenham and England, the forward has managed just four goals, hardly a record befitting of the level of player he is. Delivering goals on the big stage has certainly been a problem for Kane.
