Chelsea are doing extremely well at the moment and will head into the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend with confidence.
Tottenham suffered a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Thursday evening, while Chelsea triumphed 5-1 at Southampton the previous day.
Enzo Fernandez was one of the standout performers. The Argentinian international midfielder provided the assist for the Blues’ first goal.
It was yet another impressive performance from Fernandez, who scored two goals and two assists against Arsenal, Leicester City and Aston Villa in recent weeks.
Once linked with an exit from Chelsea, Fernandez has now established himself as an important player for the club.
The midfielder has scored two goals and given three assists in 13 appearances in the Premier League this season, according to WhoScored.
While Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been hugely impressed with Fernandez, he has made it clear to the 23-year-old midfielder that he needs to keep working hard.
“He is improving a lot, especially in terms of understanding the game and the position,” he told football.london.
“This is what we need from the attacking players. He has many things he can do better, but not only him – all of the players.”
Chelsea are second in the Premier League table, level on points with third-placed Arsenal and seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
Maresca’s side have lost just twice in the Premier League this season and have won four of their last six league games.
Chelsea have steadily improved under Maresca, and should be considered as challengers for the Premier League title.
