Carlton Palmer believes that Rovers midfielder would be good addition for Hull suggesting the two clubs could negotiate the right fee

With reports suggesting that Hull City are interested in a move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder and captain Lewis Travis, pundit Carlton Palmer believes he would be a good addition to the Tigers.

Travis has been linked with a move to the KCOM Stadium following a report by Alan Nixon via his Patreon, who revealed that the Tigers would have to pay around £3 million for the 26-year-old ball winner.

Eustace hopes Travis will remain at Rovers, and with his status as captain at Ewood Park, it could tempt the midfielder to stay.

Eustace has made it clear he is an integral part of his plans for the future.

The Blackburn boss told the Lancashire Telegraph:"I think it's very evident that Lewis is a leader, he was captain of the team last season.

"Before I came in, he went to Ipswich, he has a promotion on his CV. He's been at a top club in the Championship, and he knows how things work at the top level in this league.

"His experience is vital around the group. I'd love Lewis to stay and be an important part of the team."

Travis could bring in some serious experience for Tim Walter's men, and after a slow start to the Championship with two draws, they could need it.

Speaking exclusively with Football League World, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Palmer, believes that despite Eustace not wanting to sell, they could agree on a price and would be a key asset for Walter's side.

Palmer said: "They've lost two key players in the summer, with Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene to Ipswich Town and Aston Villa, respectively, raking in around £35 million pounds.

"I still expect Hull City to have a busy end to the transfer window, they have got money to spend, and they're keen on Travis, who has two years left on his contract, but he's had a very good pre-season under John Eustace.

"Eustace has made him captain, so he has said he doesn't want to sell the player, but as we all know, everybody has their price.

"Hull need to do some business, they've sold two key players and if they want to push on and look to be in amongst those playoffs, they need to bring in some players who will provide some experience, and they can do that with the 26-year-old in the midfield.

"He's versatile, so he'd be a very good addition. As I said, Eustace has made it clear he'd like to keep hold of Travis, so if Hull are going to bring in his services they'd have to pay a respectable £3m."

Travis would be a brilliant acquisition for Hull

The midfielder is now into his eighth season with Rovers following his move at the age of 18 from Liverpool in 2015 and, after a loan spell at the Tractor Boys last season, could we see his time coming to an end?

Travis has been a valuable asset to Blackburn, hence being made captain last season, and has been a defensive dynamo in the heart of Rovers' midfield, especially in their pursuit of the playoffs in 2022/23.

However, Hull are yet to find their leading figure in the middle of the park.

Former Chelsea academy midfielder Xavier Simons is still finding his trade as the number six for the Tigers, but has looked promising in Hull's opening games.

Walter could be after someone more experienced though, and Travis would certainly fit the bill.

Blackburn evidently struggled without Travis in the second half of the season following his six-month stint at Ipswich, with relegation being threatened to Rovers.

Eustace can't make it more clear he wants his captain to stay, but there is no doubt Hull could splash the cash on the 26-year-old, with the Blackburn boss potentially obliging.
