Hellas Verona have opened talks with Milan to explore a late move for defender Marco Pellegrino, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Veneto outfit have been out of the most active Serie A clubs in the January transfer window, selling a number of players including Cyril Ngonge, Isak Hien and Josh Doig. They’ve also signed five players, replacing their departees with low-cost talents.

Pellegrino joined Milan from Club Atletico Platense in the summer in a deal worth around €3.5m plus €2m in add-ons. He struggled to break into Stefano Pioli’s squad this term, making just one start before an ankle injury kept him sidelined for months.

As reported by Di Marzio, Verona are still looking to add some more cover to their defence and have contacted Milan to explore a move for Pellegrino. A number of other clubs around Europe including Anderlecht are interested in the Argentine defender.

The Rossoneri and the Gialloblu have already carried out some business this month, with Filippo Terracciano joining the Milanese club in a deal worth around €4.5m.
