Son has only just returned to fitness after a hamstring injury
Heung-min Son was not involved in Tottenham training ahead of his side’s Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar.
The Spurs captain made his return from a hamstring injury on Saturday, scoring in a routine win over West Ham before he was replaced with 20 minutes remaining.
Son did not appear to be hampered by injury issues in that match, but he did not join his team-mates for training on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old picked up a hamstring problem against Qarabag in Spurs’ opening Europa League match, which then kept him out of matches against Manchester United, Ferencvaros and Brighton before the international break.
Son was not named in South Korea’s squad for their recent fixtures and so had two weeks of further recovery in north London, enabling him to return against West Ham last time out.
Djed Spence also missed the session on Wednesday after picking up a knock ahead of the West Ham game, though he would not play on Thursday night even if fit having not been named in the club’s Europa League squad.
Wilson Odobert did take part in training as he steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury suffered against Coventry in the Carabao Cup last month.
Tottenham take on AZ Alkmaar on Thursday night, looking to make it three wins from three in Europe.
