Having already brought in Slovenian defender David Zec and American wingback John Tolkin, Holstein Kiel have now added their third new signing of the current January transfer window. Centre-back Ivan Nekic arrives in the Bundesliga from Croatian first division outlet NK Varaždin.
The 24-year-old has started all 18 of his side’s league fixtures this season. The storks will surely be hoping that, like Zec, Nekic will have an immediate impact.
Relegation threatened Kiel possess the league’s worst defense, having conceded 46 goals through 18 rounds of play.
“With Ivan Nekic, we are gaining another alternative for our defensive line,” KSV sporting director Carsten Wehlmann noted in a statement issued on the club’s website.
He continued: ”We are confident that he will quickly settle in and integrate into the team and help us achieve our goals.”
