Houston Dynamo FC have exercised the purchase option for Adalberto Carrasquilla from LaLiga 2 side FC Cartagena.
The player originally joined the Major League Soccer side on loan from Cartagena in August 2021, finishing the season with 10 appearances and one goal. Now, he will stay with the Dynamo through the end of the 2024 season, with a club option for 2025.
He’s featured in every match of the 2022 campaign, marking the first 10 weeks with one goal and one assist.
“Coco is one of the most exciting young talents in MLS who believes in the direction this club is heading, so securing his future with the Dynamo was one of our top priorities this summer,” said Dynamo general manager Pat Onstad.
“We appreciate the support of Ted Segal and our entire ownership group to continue investing in our roster. Coco has a bright future ahead of him and we appreciate that he and his family are excited about remaining in Houston.”
Before playing in the American league, the midfielder spent one season with FC Cartagena, where he made 49 appearances. He played a crucial role in getting the team promoted to LaLiga 2 in 2020.
“Very happy to be able to stay at a club that believes in me. From day one at the Houston Dynamo, they shown me all their love, and now it's time to keep giving everything for this shirt. I'm happy to continue with you. To the fans, I’ll tell you that #keepcoco is a fact,” the player stated on social media.
The Dynamo currently sit in eighth place on the Western Conference table, with 12 points in 10 matches and a record of 3W-3D-4L.
