Queens Park Rangers’ decision to sign Alejandro Faurlin in 2009 was somewhat of a gamble due to the fact that the midfielder had never played in the Championship before.
However, the Argentine quickly adapted to life in England and went on to represent the Hoops on 41 occasions in the second-tier during his debut campaign.
Faurlin helped his side secure promotion in 2011 by featuring regularly in the second-tier for the club.
QPR won the Championship title after amassing 88 points from 46 league games.
The midfielder was unable to deliver the goods consistently in the Premier League for the Hoops as he fell out of favour at Loftus Road.
After drifting in and out of QPR’s side in the following seasons, Faurlin eventually parted ways with the club in 2o16 as he joined Getafe.
Here, we take a look at how Faurlin has been getting on following his departure from the club…
After making 163 appearances for QPR in all competitions, Faurlin would have been determined to make a positive impact for Getafe during his time at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
However, despite helping his side seal promotion to La Liga in 2017 by featuring on 30 occasions at this level, Faurlin was allowed to leave the club ahead of their return to the top-flight.
The midfielder scored an important goal in Getafe’s play-off victory over Tenerife and thus it was somewhat of a surprise when he moved on to pastures new.
Following spells with Cruz Azul, RCD Mallorca and Marbella FC, Faurlin joined Argentine side Instituto earlier this year.
During his time with the club, the midfielder has emerged as a key player at the Estadio Presidente Peron.
Faurlin has made 21 appearances in the Primera B Nacional for Instituto so far this season and will be looking to help his side seal victory in their clash with Guillermo Brown on Saturday.
