Carlos Corberan has urged Rolando Aarons to remain positive and not become frustrated after a tough start to the season.
Huddersfield had to be patient in bringing Aarons to the football club last January, having missed the deadline to wrap up the signing in the summer.
The 25-year-old has since made only 11 appearances for the Terriers, making 10 appearances in the Championship last season as well as featuring in the FA Cup.
Aarons is yet to make an appearance for the Terriers this season, having picked up a knee injury at the start of the season, and having suffered with a stomach bug of late.
The wide-man has had to make do with a couple of B-team appearances, and hasn’t made a single matchday squad this term.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, though, Corberan has urged Aarons to remain positive and avoid becoming frustrated at his lack of game time in the early stages of this season.
He said: “In one period of time, until his injury, he was one of the first 11 payers because he arrived as one player to cover that position.
“It was clear that medically he was able to help the team. But after three games, I remember him making one of the best games from the bench at Luton, he had one injury in the next week which stopped all the progress we had with him.
“In the summer, he was one of the players who started to get ready himself, but unfortunately, he got one problem in the knee that did not allow him to continue.
“But it is important he is not frustrated, you just need to keep your mind positive to recovery your level and positive dynamic to start to perform well.”
The Verdict
Huddersfield have enjoyed a positive start to the season and look a decent outfit going forward.
Sorba Thomas is thriving in the wing-back role, and Harry Toffolo has been excellent on the other side too.
You feel that Aarons may have to work in a wing-back role if he is to feature more regularly, but his pace, versatility and end product could make him a good option to have.
There’s still a lot of games left to play, so he should remain focused.
