After instating Michael Duff as boss earlier in the summer, the Yorkshire outfit have brought in plenty of EFL experience to help their promotion efforts in the next 12 months, as they look to return to the Championship at the earliest opportunity.

Mickel Miller has joined the club from Plymouth Argyle following the expiration of his deal in Devon, while Lasse Sorenson joins the club from third tier rivals Lincoln City.

Herbie Kane has also linked up with his old boss Duff after making the move from Barnsley, while Antony Evans became the latest recruit last week, after joining from Bristol Rovers.

Here we take a look at all the latest news coming out of the John Smith’s Stadium, as plans for the 24/25 campaign continue to fall into shape.

While the influx of players continues at Town, there will no doubt be players that are heading out the door this summer, with Sorba Thomas likely to be one of those that have played their last game for the club.

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Ligue 1 side Nantes have offered £1 million for the former Boreham Wood man this week, as they look to pounce on the availability of the Wales international.

Despite his side’s lowly position in the second tier last season, Thomas continued to excel in his role on the flanks for the Terriers, as well as his ferocious delivery from set-piece situations.

In total, the 24-year-old contributed to 13 goals in the Championship last season, as he scored four himself, as well as laying on nine more for his teammates.

Nixon went on to say that the former Blackburn Rovers loanee does also have interest from other domestic clubs this summer, but Thomas would prefer a move abroad.

Antony Evans became Town’s fourth signing of the summer last week, as he made the move from Bristol Rovers in a deal said to be in the region of £450,000.

The midfielder won the Gas’ Player of the Season award for the previous campaign, and the 25-year-old has outlined his desires after making the move to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Speaking to the club’s official TV channel, Evans said: “It’s something I wanted to happen now for a few weeks, and it’s finally over the line, so I’m absolutely buzzing to get it done.

“It’s been presented as a project. The club shouldn’t be in the level that it is. Obviously what happened last year happened, it’s obviously a target for this year now to get out of the division, and then once you’re up out of this division, who knows what can happen?”

Evans was also keen to point out the influence of Duff in making the decision to move to Yorkshire this summer.

He added: “I’ve played against his teams. I know at Barnsley they were a good side, they were tough to play against, full of honest lads.

“I think he’s putting a team together that are going to be a full bunch of honest lads who are going to give everything for the shirt.

“That’s a big part of why I’m here as well, to play for someone who gives belief in you and wants lads around you who are going to play for each other.”

Huddersfield Town owner speaks out after Alfie May, Birmingham City snub

The Terriers looked set to add 23/24 League One top scorer Alfie May to their squad this summer, with a reported £750,000 deal being agreed with Charlton Athletic.

That move never happened though, as fellow relegated side Birmingham City swooped in at the eleventh hour to hijack the deal, and make him theirs for the season ahead.

The Blues were said to offer the Addicks £775,000 to make the former Cheltenham Town man theirs, with Terriers chief Kevin Nagle outlining in a recent video diary on his X account.

Nagle said: ““I’ll say this much. The club that got him, they weren’t even thinking about him four days before that.

“I think what I’m impressed with is they’re kind of watching what we were doing. They actually targeted at least one, maybe two other players that we did sign. I’ve been impressed by the fact that that club is looking at our recruitment team, and seeing what kind of moves we’re making.

“What I’m going to say is we’re not going to pay what that person got paid. There were a lot of rumours that went out on it, I’m not going to validate that, but it’s not fair to our players in the locker room.

“He was paid an extraordinary amount, if you look to see what his history was, it just didn’t make [sense]. Now maybe he’ll turn out to be great, and I hope he does, just not against Town.”
