Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper, Carl Rushworth, is undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Hull City.
Hull City look set to further bolster their squad ahead of the transfer deadline, with Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Carl Rushworth set to arrive in East Yorkshire.
According to Football Insider, the 23-year-old is set to return closer to his Halifax roots by penning a season-long loan deal with the Tigers, with a medical pencilled in, despite strong interest from Blackburn Rovers - who were put off by the cost of a temporary move, as per a report from Alan Nixon.
If the deal goes through, then Rushworth would become Tim Walter's 12th signing this summer in a busy window following his replacement of Liam Rosenior in the dugout at the MKM Stadium.
Having spent last season on loan with Swansea City, Rushworth established himself as the number one goalkeeper for the South Wales side. The 23-year-old played every single minute of the Swans' 2023/24 campaign, and will likely arrive at Hull as first-choice too.
During his spell at the Swansea.com Stadium, Rushworth proved he was up to the standard of playing in the Championship after previous stints at Walsall and Lincoln City, and Hull would provide a solid test of his abilities.
Despite his successful season in the second tier, he has been unable to claim the number one jersey at Brighton, with Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele currently ahead of him, and has been an unused substitute in both of the Seagulls' opening two Premier League games whilst Verbruggen recovers from an injury.
The 23-year-old however has a high ceiling and could yet become Brighton's number one, but another loan move to the Championship appears to be the best fit for the shot-stopper at this moment in time.
Since Walter took over as Hull manager, Ivor Pandur has been the Tigers' first-choice between the sticks. He has started all three of Hull's opening Championship games, which have all ended in draws.
Pandur only signed for Hull in January, following his transfer from Fortuna Sittard of the Netherlands. However, the goalkeeper did not play a single minute in the Tigers' 2023/24 season after he arrived, with Ryan Allsop favoured by previous boss Rosenior.
Having only just secured the number one jersey, the Croatian now faces a fierce battle to hold onto it.
The Tigers are not short of options between the sticks and already possess four goalkeepers in their ranks. In signing Rushworth, it would surely pave the way for one of Hull's squad players to leave before the window shuts.
The Tigers also have Thimothee Lo-Tutala and Harvey Cartwright to choose from, as well as Anthony Racioppi, who recently signed from BSC Young Boys, so one of Lo-Tutala and Cartwright - if not both - could be on the move.
With less than a week to go until the window shuts, Hull are moving fast to bolster their squad for the rest of the season.
Having drawn their first three games, Walter has seen enough of his side to know where improvements are required.
In signing Rushworth from Brighton, they would be securing a player who is established at Championship level and someone who can battle it out with the current number one goalkeeper, Pandur, as well as Racioppi.
