Hull City have had a very good, recent, track record with taking Liverpool youngsters on loan and giving them a successful launchpad.
And they are reported to want to continue this record by taking Liverpool youngster James McConnell on loan next season, with Alan Nixon claiming last week that the Tigers are keen to strike a deal despite not having a head coach.
FLW's Hull fan pundit, Ant Northgraves, believes that McConnell could be a shrewd pickup for Hull if they are able to do a deal with the Reds, noting that their past loan agreements with the Anfield outfit have proven to be very fruitful.
"James McConnell is an interesting link," Ant told Football League World.
"It is quite bizarre that we are linked with any players at the moment, considering we don't have a manager.
"But, if we are trying to create a fruitful relationship with a club like Liverpool, who obviously have a track record at producing really decent youngsters, then somebody like McConnell, even with the limited amount of professional games he has played, would suggest he is good enough to merit a crack in the professional leagues.
"We loaned in Tyler Morton, we've had Harry Wilson in the past, and obviously we've had Fabio Carvalho as well, so we ourselves have a nice little track record of Liverpool youngsters coming here and doing really well.
"Hopefully then, he is another player that we can add to that list and, hopefully, he gives us a bit more youth and dynamism in the middle of the park, similar to how Morton did last season, and creates an impact.
"It is a loan signing so he will be fairly low risk, and if it doesn't work out here for him, he isn't our player, and he goes back to Liverpool, and they may well send him a couple of divisions lower.
"But if it works out, then it is good for us, and good for Liverpool!"
As mentioned by Ant, Hull and Liverpool have a very positive relationship when it comes to sharing players.
Morton, Carvalho and Wilson have all enjoyed good seasons at the MKM Stadium, and the latter has even gone on to enjoy some great years at Fulham, who he joined from Liverpool in 2021.
This is not forgetting either, that before enjoying major success at Liverpool, Scotland left-back Andy Robertson enjoyed a good spell with the Tigers too, showing that Hull are a good place to develop those that may end up playing at Anfield at some point in their careers.
McConnell would definitely be a positive signing, as in his limited appearances so far in professional football, he has managed some fantastic displays, and even registered his first professional assist in Liverpool's fourth round tie against Norwich City this summer.
So it will be up to any potential new manager in charge to sanction the signing of McConnell, but there are plenty of positives surrounding the midfielder, and as stated by Ant, it would be low risk, with potentially brilliant rewards.
