'I don't lie to myself': Ruben Amorim reacts as Manchester United slump to Nottingham Forest defeat

Red Devils lacked a cutting edge in attack as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest
Ruben Amorim insists he sees positives in his Manchester United side despite their loss to Nottingham Forest.
Anthony Elanga scored the only goal of the game after five minutes to inflict a first a Premier League defeat in five games on his former employers.
The Red Devils did go close to snatching at least a point, most notably right at the death when second half substitute Harry Maguire saw his goalbound effort cleared off the line by Forest defender Murillo.
According to Opta, Man United registered 24 shots at the City Ground which is their most in a Premier League game in which they have failed to score since September 2021 against Aston Villa (28).
Whilst United’s progress prior to the international break has been somewhat halted by Tuesday night’s setback, Amorim says he saw enough against Forest to provide encouragment that his side are on the right track.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the defeat, Amorim said: "I see it in the game. I don't lie to myself, everyone can say whatever they want to say, I see some things but we need to win games. We go to the next game.
"We have Europa League and we have the next game in the Premier League and that is the focus."
A frustrated Amorim also believed his side did not deserve to be on the wrong end of the 1-0 scoreline at the City Ground.
He added: "We controlled the game, but we already knew this team can score goals out of nothing. When they scored we changed the game a little bit from what they want. We tried with good opportunities, but in the last third, the last pass, the last assist wasn't there.
“Then if we don't have that we cannot score goals. This season is like that. We had a lot of shots on goal, we pushed the opponent to the last third, but in the last third we had a lack of quality.
“We need to win games and we deserved more in this game, that is clear, but it is our fault and we need to be better in the last third. We should have won this game, not even drawn, but in the end we have lost three points.
"We know the characters of the team and one goal can put them in one situation they love. We have to score two goals to win a match and that is frustrating as it was the beginning of the game. We helped them to win three points."
