David Prutton believes Miron Muslic could attract interest from other clubs after falling short of securing Championship safety with Plymouth Argyle.
Plymouth Argyle have been relegated from the Championship despite the best efforts of head coach Miron Muslic.
The Pilgrims appointed Muslic to replace Wayne Rooney in the dugout in January with the club bottom of the table and without a win in 11 league games.
Despite picking up 26 points from his 21 games in charge in the Championship, Muslic was unable to guide Plymouth to safety. The Austrian delivered three victories in the last five games of the season, including wins over promotion-chasers Sheffield United and Coventry City, but his side ultimately finished a few points short of escaping the drop zone.
When you compare the records of Rooney and Muslic this season, it could be argued that the Pilgrims might have survived if they had brought in the 42-year-old earlier.
Sky Sports presenter, David Prutton, spoke exclusively to Football League World about whether Plymouth would have avoided relegation if they had a few more games under the management of Muslic.
"I think what we saw from Miron Muslic, it just felt like they ran out of games rather than belief," Prutton said.
"Some cracking moments, there were some cracking late moments under Rooney as Plymouth boss, but some cracking moments under Muslic, who was so close to giving them a fighting chance of getting out of the trouble they were in.
"It was always going to be tough coming back up into the Championship. Consolidation for a team such as Plymouth Argyle is success in itself.
"We will just never know, will we? It is hypothetical. I have seen enough from Muslic to suggest he is a charismatic leader of people and I have got a feeling, perhaps, he will be in demand at other football clubs.
"First and foremost, you make sure that he is happy there. Secondly, you make sure that he has got the tools to be able to have an assault on the title in League One, or at least promotion from League One, next season.
"There is also the question as to Wayne Rooney's next port of call, if it is in management or if it is what he is doing now in punditry. He is extremely good at how he explains stuff from what I have seen from a television point of view.
"I think, sometimes, the art of management is slightly different, and as a man you have got to give him respect for chucking himself into it wholeheartedly. For some world-class, glorious ex-footballers it fits, and for some it doesn't.
"Maybe time will tell, and if there is another opportunity, we will know for definite either way for Wayne.
"Miron Muslic and Plymouth Argyle fit together very, very well indeed, and he will be a key part of what happens next season for Argyle."
Given what Muslic has been able to do during his spell in charge of the Pilgrims so far, having beaten Liverpool in the FA Cup and improved performances in the league, there is no doubt the club will want to keep him ahead of their return to League One.
However, the Plymouth boss has made it clear that he needs the right backroom staff in place if he is going to be able to bring success to the club, so it remains to be seen whether his future at Home Park will go beyond this summer.
