The Cityzens eased their way back into action following the international break with Khadija Shaw netting a brace and Jess Park and Mary Fowler also getting on the scoresheet.
When speaking to the media after the match, Taylor was full of praise for his Manchester City side.
“I thought we were really good again,” Taylor said. “When you come off the back of an international break, there is a certain worry about what you’re going to get but I thought the training sessions we had were good. It’s then about transferring those good training sessions into the game and the start was amazing. Of course, when we score, it really helps.
“I thought there were some really good opportunities to get crosses into the box today with Kerstin [Casparij] and Leila [Ouahabi] and then Bunny [Shaw] does what she does, so I’m pleased.”
Manchester City went into the game without some key players and Taylor admitted that he was very happy with how his side dealt with the challenges with personnel.
He said “I’m really pleased with the way the girls are handling it. This period is really difficult; we have really low numbers in the people that are available and I have to give great credit to the girls for the way they handled it today.”
Forward Shaw netted her 13th and 14th goals of the season against The Foxes and Taylor heaped praise on the Jamaican international.
He said “I’d like to say I’ve helped her in that space but I think that’s all down to Bunny, she arrives at the right moment. They were quite different [finishes] in the sense that the first one, she puts back where it comes almost and makes it difficult for the keeper and I think she controlled it well from Kerstin’s cross. For me, she’s a very complete striker.”
Manchester City return to action on Thursday evening when they face SKN St Pölten in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage at The Joie Stadium.
