Farès Chaibi is aiming to reach the next level in his second year at Eintracht. Here he discusses his other objectives and his joy at “big brother” Omar Marmoush staying at the club.

Farès Chaibi on ...

…the upcoming game against VfL Wolfsburg: “We’ve trained well but we’ve also had a couple of days off. Now everyone’s starting to come back so we’ll give it everything to be successful at the weekend. We’re determined to take all three points in Wolfsburg and over the coming days we’ll do everything we can to prepare well for the game.”

…the Algerian national team: “The coach didn’t select me this time. There wasn’t any particular reason for it. The national team is really important to me. Playing for Algeria is a matter very close to my heart. When I’m needed, I’ll always give my all.”

…his personal aims for the season: “Considering last season was my first year playing abroad, it wasn’t bad at all. Now it’s my second season at Eintracht and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve set myself some higher aims and I’ve got higher standards in terms of my own performances. I want to play as many games as possible and I’ve got big ambitions with this club. I want to get more goals and assists, and have more influence on the way we play. I’ve settled here well and feel more and more comfortable at the club. I’m very close to my family, so this first experience abroad isn’t easy and will take time.”

…Omar Marmoush: “I’m very happy that he stayed. He’ll help us a lot on the pitch. He’s like a big brother to me. We live close to each other and spend a lot of our free time together. We have a special bond.”

…the UEFA Europa League: “I think the new format is positive. For our fans too, because they’ll get to see more of our games. Obviously, we want to win every match. If we can show our true colours out on the pitch then we can go into the campaign full of confidence.”
