Sky Sports pundit and Chelsea fan Paul Merson was left flabbergasted by a ‘pathetic’ decision Enzo Maresca made this week.
The news comes after Chelsea played out a boring 0-0 draw against Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in what was another underwhelming performance.
Enzo Maresca frustrated Chelsea fans once again with a heavily rotated starting lineup in such an important game in the race for Champions League qualification, and then he annoyed them even more with some of the excuses he came out with after the game, even blaming the weather!
The Blues boss was also frustrated though, pointing out the fact that his attackers are currently not doing enough and has called for more goals from them all.
Maresca and his players must keep going now and onto the next game later this week in the Conference League as they look to try and win some silverware this season.
But what has annoyed Merson is from the Brentford game on Sunday and the starting team selection that Maresca went for. Merson believes he was saving the players for The Conference League game tomorrow.

In his column for Sky Sports this week, Merson said:
“I couldn’t believe the team Enzo Maresca put out at Brentford. When that team came out, I was flabbergasted. It was pathetic.
“Chelsea have won the Champions League. This is the Europa Conference League – and he’s resting players for it?
“Maresca is probably looking at the competition thinking they have to win it as they may not be in European competition next season otherwise.
Chelsea might not finish in the top six this year and winning it would get them Europa League football. He’s using it as a safety net.
“The only good thing about winning the Conference League is Chelsea would be the only team ever to win every competition.
“No-one else is going to do that because all the good teams will never be in the Conference League.”
