Enzo Maresca has insisted he’s not concerned about the number of errors Chelsea make that are leading to goals.

The Blues fought back from a goal down at half time to record a vital 2-1 win against West Ham on Monday night as Graham Potter returned to Stamford Bridge.

It was a big three points for the Blues, with Maresca labelling it as huge, and they moved back into the top four, two points ahead of Manchester City and Newcastle in the race for Champions League qualification.

Maresca not concerned about errors leading to goals

Chelsea have made a lot of defensive errors this season, with Robert Sanchez culpable for a number of them, but Maresca took the decision to finally replace him with Filip Jorgensen.

The Dane put in a solid performance, but there was nothing he could do about Jarrod Bowen’s opener after Levi Colwill made a huge mistake at the back.

It was yet another error made by a Chelsea player leading to a goal and it feels like it’s becoming a regular occurrence each week, with it very much something Maresca needs to get on top of.

However, speaking after the game, Maresca surprisingly insisted he wasn’t concerned and said it’s the way Chelsea play.

“I’m not concerned, it’s the way we play,” he said as cited on X.com.

“Sometimes defensive mistakes happen, keeper mistake, number nine misses the goal, that’s football.

“It happens, the important thing is to continue.”

Maresca’s comments are unlikely to go down well with fans, who have certainly become frustrated by the consistent errors which are costing Chelsea goals and points this season.

The players are likely to still be getting to grips fully with the system, but the decision making and concentration levels in key areas of the pitch has got to improve.

If Chelsea keep making costly mistakes then they could pay the ultimate price and miss out on qualifying for Champions League football next season.
