Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has spoken out on his future and his role in Ruben Amorim’s side at the moment.

The experienced Brazilian defensive midfielder is not getting as much playing time this season, which isn’t too surprising as he’s struggled for form and looks past his best.

At his peak, Casemiro was a world class performer for Real Madrid, and he looked an exciting signing when he first joined Man Utd.

“I left Arsenal because my wife told me she wanted to get out of London – then six months later she told me to go BACK!” – which Arsenal legend instantly regretted leaving?

Now, however, he looks like a liability more than anything, as he’s not proving a useful member of Amorim’s squad, and is likely to be on high wages that the club could really do without paying during this difficult period in which they’ve made a lot of cuts in other areas.

Casemiro speaks out on his future

Casemiro says it’s too early to be speaking that concretely about his future, but he insists he wants to be playing regularly at Old Trafford.

Sending a clear message to Amorim, Casemiro said, as quoted by TEAMtalk: “Of course I want to play. But I always say – and these are my values – I respect the coach a lot, I respect the club. Every day I go to Carrington or Old Trafford I try to do my best.

“If a player is on the bench and is happy, that player is not worth anything for any team. Of course I want to play, I want to have more minutes, but the coach is the one who makes the decisions, and I have a lot of respect for him and for the club.

“It’s too soon to talk about next season but, of course, I have another year of contract and then an option. We have important games and on Sunday we have Arsenal. It’s too soon to talk about next season.

“I’m here, I’m available, with total happiness, and I’m ready for the coach and the club. As everyone knows, I’m a big character for the club. As I said, every time I go to Carrington or Old Trafford I try to do my best. That’s my biggest quality.”
