We’ve rumbled into a new transfer window, and the pace is starting to pick up on a few rumours.

Chelsea are not being heavily linked with any major incomings – all the focus is on potential outgoings at the moment. Top of that list is Carney Chukwuemeka, who has been linked for some time with moves elsewhere.

Teams in Italy seem to be most interested – AC Milan are the name we’ve heard mentioned most often, perhaps because they have a whole cadre of former Chelsea players on their books, and the clubs obviously have a good relationship.

But today a new team was added to the mix. TeamTalk claim that former Blues boss Antonio Conte, currently leading Napoli in a title charge, is keen on the 21 year old to add another body to his team in an attempt to win the Serie A title at his first attempt in Naples.

AC Milan baulked at our £30m asking price, and we’d imagine Napoli are no more willing or capable to pay more. But given we’re keen to sell on a player who has picked up just a handful of minutes for us all season, we can see a deal potentially being done.

It would likely need to be a loan with a buy option to keep everyone happy – perhaps with a higher compulsory fee if Conte’s side do go on to win the title.

Chukwuemeka likely to leave in some form within next few weeks

TeamTalk write that “important” developments are expected “soon” for Chukwuemeka. That’s a no-brainer – whatever the eventual solution, something has to be done in January. He wants to play, and is only losing value by sitting on the bench.

Manager Enzo Maresca said that he and Ben Chilwell would likely be “the first to leave,” and we don’t think plans have changed since then.
