Having taken a couple of matches to get up to speed, Omar Al Somah has most definitely found his feet.

Or should we say "rediscovered". After all, he is the Roshn Saudi League’s record goalscorer.

So it should come as no surprise, then, that having gone two games at Al Orobah since his winter transfer without a goal, he now has four in his past four.

On Monday night, as RSL Matchweek 22 rolled around in a flash, Al Somah notched the winner at Damac to continue both his and his latest employers’ fabulous February.

The 2-1 win in Khamis Mushait was secured via a typically confident Al Somah finish minutes after the hour, the Syrian latching onto Fawaz Al Terais’ slide pass to send the ball past Florin Nita in the Damac goal.

It comes on the back of Al Somah’s brace earlier this month in the 4-2 victory against fellow relegation battlers Al Wehda, and the opener the following week in the 2-0 home triumph against Al Kholood.

Monday’s strike carried the former Al Ahli striker’s RSL record to an unparalleled 148 goals. As such, he moved to six ahead of closest challenger, Al Shabab’s Abderrazak Hamdallah.

But, crucially, Al Somah has played a principal role in lifting Al Orobah from inside the relegation zone to 13th in the table. Already an RSL legend, the irrepressible frontman is doing exactly what he was brought to the club to do.
