Independiente suffered a shock exit from the Copa Argentina, as second-division side Brown eliminated them on penalties late Monday night.
Independiente will turn their focus to the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals and Superliga play, while Brown advance to the Copa Argentina round-of-16.
Silvio Romero opened the scoring for the home side in the 24th minute, as he sent the keeper the wrong way on his penalty.

Independiente were called for a foul in the box just before half-time, but goalkeeper MartĂn Campaña made a fantastic diving stop on Juan Olivares to keep the score at 1-0.
Brown would score a shock goal in the 64th minute as Olivares would get his revenge after a great ball from Brian Guille put him through on goal.
After 90 minutes, the match went directly to penalties. All of Brownâs four shooters would all score (Olivares, Stegman, Benegas, and Guille.)
Romero, Silva, and Domingo all scored for El Rojo, but Britez had their third attempt saved, while Figal had their fifth and final attempt saved as well.
Brown will face fourth-division Central CĂłrdoba in the round-of-16.
