Former Lyon defender Jason Denayer was called up to the Red Devils training camp as injury cover for Jan Vertonghen. However, Het Nieuwsblad have revealed that Denayer himself is now injured and will certainly be missing the 2022 World Cup.

Anderlecht defender Jan Vertonghen was absent from the friendly defeat to Egypt, as he races to recover from an injury that has kept him out of domestic matches for a few weeks. Roberto Martinez started Vertonghen’s team mate Zeno Debast, alongside Toby Aldeweireld and Arthur Theate in the back three. Debast and Theate, alongside Leicester’s Wout Faes, may well be the future of the Belgian defence in tournaments to come.
