Sergi Samper will miss Barcelona’s pre-season tour of the U.S due to injury.
The defensive midfielder has a knee problem meaning he is unavailable for the matches against Tottenham, Roma and AC Milan.
Due to fly out with the team on Tuesday night, Samper was ruled out after a training session that morning.
The news was announced earlier that day with a statement on the club’s official website reading:
“The first team player Sergi Samper has a problem in his left knee and will stay in Barcelona to receive treatment and follow a specific training plan.”
Samper joins a long-list of Barcelona players already sitting out the friendly tournament due to World Cup commitments.
The 23-year-old midfielder had been told he would be given a chance to impress during pre-season after successful loan spells with Granada and Las Palmas over the course of the last two seasons.
