Flamengo goalkeeper Diego Alves is losing his battle to be fit for Wednesday’s derby against Fluminense.
According to Gazeta Esportiva, the first-choice stopper is undergoing intense treatment on a thigh injury.
However, it is unlikely to make him available for the clash with the Fluzão, and the 35-year-old is not expected back until Sunday’s game with Ceará.
In the event that Alves is missing, youngster Hugo Souza is certain to continue to deputise for the veteran.
Souza has made 12 Brasileirão appearances this season, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
The Rubro-Negro will be able to welcome back striker Gabriel Barbosa and left-back Filipe Luís.
Both players sat out last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Fortaleza.
