Francesco Acerbi will continue to miss time with his latest thigh injury, prompting Inter to give more thought to the idea of adding a center-back in January. Jaka Bijol isn’t the only option in their crosshairs, Corriere della Sera informs.
Simone Inzaghi is a fan of Isak Hien, who has made the leap this year at Atalanta. La Dea signed him for €8.5M last January. Moreover, the Nerazzurri have earmarked Mario Gila, who has been Lazio’s best defender thus far. The Biancocelesti scooped him up for €6M from Real Madrid in 2022.
Inter were plotting to get younger at the position next summer, but they could move up the plan. Acerbi has missed seven matches. He’ll be out for at least a couple more. Benjamin Pavard is also on the mend with a similar timetable.
The Nerazzurri might touch base with Udinese ahead of Thursday’s Coppa Italia tilt. Bijol is also being pursued by Napoli. Director Gianluca Nani addressed him during a recent holiday dinner (via Tuttomercatoweb).
“We know he’s in the demand. It couldn’t be otherwise since he’s good and strong. We don’t want to sell our linchpins in January, but we can’t rule out anything. If it happened, we’d have to replace him adequately. It’s a headache I’d gladly postpone until June. Anyway, we listen to everybody since that’s our job.”
They are in a bit of a pickle as they could use another defender, but, given their level, only a top player would fit. Atalanta and Lazio won’t help them, and they probably don’t have much to spend.
