The 30 year old USMNT international joins Miami on a contract through the 2026 season, with a club option for 2027. Julian Gressel is one of the best and most efficient passers of the ball that MLS has ever seen. His most impactful days came during his time at Atlanta United… under Tata Martino. Gressel is a former MLS Rookie of the Year, two time MLS Cup Champion, two time Canadian Championship winner, U.S. Open Cup champion, and Campeones Cup champion. In his 246 career games for MLS clubs, Gressel has scored 32 goals and assisted on 63 goals. Now Gressel brings his talents down to a Lionel Messi led Inter Miami CF side.

Gressel brings so much quality, but maybe just as important, so much versatility to this club. Gressel is a major key to Tata Martino being able to play anything from a back four to a back five. Gressel can fill in for presumed starting RB DeAndre Yedlin, he can also start one of the two central midfielders sitting in front of Sergio Busquets, or even out on the right wing if needed. Gressel gives you starting level quality across multiple positions, and if not starting, one of the best bench options in the league. I’d love to see him starting within Tata’s central midfield, drifting out wide right at times.
