Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta is expecting construction on the new San Siro stadium to begin in 2027.
Speaking at the Inter Club meeting at the San Siro, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri chief gave a major update on the stadium front.
Inter Milan and AC Milan are still aiming to build a new stadium in place of the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri cannot fully tear down the iconic stadium. However, they will be able to build adjacent to the existing structure.
First, the clubs will have to buy the land. The city of Milan currently own the entire area, with the clubs renting the stadium.
Then, construction will begin.
Inter and Milan see a new, more modern stadium as vital for increasing their revenues. This could allow them to keep pace with their top European rivals.
Inter and Milan will want to begin construction on the new stadium as soon as possible.
Building the structure will be a huge undertaking which requires several years of work.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri feel that there is hardly any more time to waste.
And Inter President Beppe Marotta has a notable update in that regard.
“Around fifteen days ago we, along with Milan, presented out offer to purchase the San Siro and the surrounding area to the city of Milan,” he explained.
“Now there will be an official announcement which could also interest other parties.”
“Our goal is to become the owners of the area. We’ll have to go through the bureaucratic procedures.”
“And then if all goes well, construction could begin in 2027,” Marotta continued.
“And, once again, should everything go well, we hope that we can inaugurate the new stadium in 2030.”
The Inter President explained that “this is the timeline we’re going with.”
“And I believe that we can follow it,” he added.
