Inter Milan are pushing to sign Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci ahead of AC Milan next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the fee for Ricci should rise above €30 million with a bidding war.

As the Corriere note, Inter have had their eye on Samuele Ricci for a while.

The Nerazzurri have identified the Italian international has a prospective talent since he was in the Empoli youth academy.

But the last few years have seen Ricci really take the next step.

The 23-year-old has established himself as a key player in midfield for Torino. He is also a regular starter for Italy under Luciano Spalletti.

As the Corriere note, Ricci’s versatility could make him an ideal signing for Inter.

The Italian international has shown himself to be capable of playing in holding midfield. In that respect he would be a potential backup for Hakan Calhanoglu at Inter.

But on the other hand, Ricci can also play more of a box-to-box role.

And particularly if Davide Frattesi leaves next summer, the Nerazzurri will want a signing with that profile to replace him.

Therefore, there is little question that Inter will make an effort to sign Ricci.

The Corriere report that Inter have already been sounding out the move with Torino and with Ricci’s representatives.

But on the other hand, so have the Nerazzurri’s city rivals Milan.

Ricci is also one of the Rossoneri’s major transfer targets for next summer.

Therefore, the two derby rivals will in all likelihood go head-to-head to try and sign Ricci next summer.

Torino would want no less than €25-30 million for the 23-year-old, reports the Corriere. However, that figure could certainly rise should Inter and Milan try to outbid one another.
