Inter Milan strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will be hoping to revive their happy memories against Fiorentina in Serie A.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note how La Viola are the first team that both of the two strikers scored against in the same match.
Strikers Martinez and Thuram have become a well-established partnership for Inter.
Thuram has formed as formidable a partnership with Inter captain Martinez as Romelu Lukaku or Edin Dzeko ever had.
Moreover, the chemistry between the French and Argentine international did not take long to develop.
Martinez and Thuram really hit the ground running as a strike partnership last season.
And it was in a Serie A match against Fiorentina in the third match of the campaign that they really announced themselves.
Martienz and Thuram were both on the scoresheet as Inter routed the Tuscans.
That was the strongest statement of intent imaginable in the Serie A title race. The two strikers played a huge role as Inter eventually prevailed.
And the Nerazzurri will need another similar statement against Fiorentina this evening.
Inter find themselves in the midst of a fierce and competitive title race.
Martinez and Thuram have not started a match together since before the November international break. But they’ll be hoping they can find their best form together as they return against Fiorentina.
